Satellite Access Schedule
Due to the inclination of GOES-3's orbit, communication between
RSOC and the Antarctic is only available certain times each day.
Furthermore, since the batteries are dead on GOES-3, communication
is not possible during eclipse. The
approximate schedule of availability is posted below.
Access Schedules for South Pole:
The tabular schedule shows the times (in UTC) when GOES-3
is predicted
to be in view of the South Pole today. The current time in various
time zones is also shown. The graphic access schedule summarizes this
infomration: The vertical black bar shows the current time (in UTC).
The time when each satellite is visible to the south pole is shown in
grey (when the satellite is not in view) or green (when the satellite
is in view).
Extended Tabular Schedules of rise and set time
are predicted for a two week window.
Custom predictions can be made
(see below). Eclipse predictions (for GOES-3) for the season are also listed in
tabular form.

Create custom predictions using NASA's
Satellite
Overpass Predictor. This service can predict satellite azimuth and
elevation for any ground station based on a city name data base or
specified latitude and longitude. You will need the NORAD ID number for
GOES-3 (10953).
